We all know the important role self-confidence plays in our lives. Nonetheless, statistics demonstrate a shocking absence of it. According to research gathered by the personal care brand Dove, “6 in 10 girls stop doing what they love because they feel bad about their looks.” Results also show “80% of women agree that every woman has something about her that is beautiful, but do not see their own beauty.” The organization DoSomething.org shared that “over 70% of girls age 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending school, when they feel bad about their looks.” Shocking, right?
Self-confidence affects everything we do. The National Association for Self-Esteem defines self-esteem as the experience of being capable of meeting life’s challenges and being worthy of happiness.
To be confident, one must feel beautiful. According to Dove only "4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful." Isn’t that insane?
In the professional arena, Forbes explains that when an individual is self-confident at work he or she can:
Have better relationships
Boost their self-esteem
Be taken more seriously
Engage in more challenging, yet manageable projects
Achieve new goals
Advance in their job and career
Without a doubt, confidence is the most important thing a girl can wear.
