What to Wear When Losing Weight

Picture from Huffingtonpost.com

If you are in a weight lost journey, you might feel a little frustrated when it comes to your clothes. You are probably looking forward to the final results and what you would wear then, but what can you wear now right?

Before heading to the mall and spending lots on pieces you probably won't wear again, let me share some tips with you.

It's All About The Basics

First, think about the basics. Any versatile wardrobe needs blouses, pants and skirts. They allow you to create many outfits in a flash.

Form-Fitting Pieces

Think about form-fitting pieces when it comes to your clothes. They will last you for most of the weight loss process and you might even get to keep some of them.

Colors & Patterns

When it comes to colors and patterns, you can choose basic colors (black, navy, grey, brown), a few fun colors (red, pink, purple, etc) and some accessories with patterns. You don't have to buy new accessories (unless you want to) given that most will adapt to you no matter the stage. Have fun with jewelry, scarves and handbags.

How much is enough?

If you work, one week of work clothes and one week of casual clothes will be enough. If you don't work, then two weeks of casual clothes more or less.

What to buy?

Here are seven pieces that I recommend buying when losing weight:

(Read carefully because you MAY have some of these pieces already!)

#1 Wrap Dresses

Thank designer Diane Von Fursternberg for this incredible invention. These dresses are great for every figure no matter what. The fabric and the strap will adapt to your body and keep everything in place. You will feel awesome in it!

#2 Thick Leggings & Jeggings

Pants made of stretchy materials will be your best friends through this process. You must make sure that the fabric you chose is thick enough, so it covers everything and looks dressier. I included jeggings (jean leggings) in here because they are great for a business casual look and weekend outfits.

*The next item will help you create a look with these pieces that is both appropriate and put together.

#3 Tunics

Tunics are longer shirts that hit the mid of your thigh or almost your knee. They are great for camouflaging and elongating your torso. These are extremely versatile because you can wear them with pants, long shorts, capris and even maxi skirts. With the right accessories such as pendant necklaces or scarves, they can look very chic.

#4 Draped Tops

These are great for any stage in life. They are very forgiving. They are usually made of jersey material and you can dress them up or down. With skirts for work or with jeans for the weekend.

#5 Maxi Skirts

The elastic waistband of these skirts is fantastic because it will allow you to wear these skirts throughout the whole process. This is another versatile piece that can go from work to dinner, barbeques, etc.

#6 Sweaters & Cardigans

You may purchase a few sweaters and cardigans. They both work with many looks. I recommend buying more cardigans because they allow you to create more combinations. You can buy two cardigans and one sweater to start. If you have them already, then you don't need to buy anything!

#7 Blazer or Structured Jackets

These pieces are the perfect final touch to any look. If you feel a little sloppy with your look, then throw on a blazer or structured jacket and you are ready to go. This is the perfect piece to pull the whole look together. Have one or two in versatile colors.
